Egg shells are a great alternative to spending plenty of money on household cleaners, beauty regimes and gardening supplies. Eggshells are so versatile and cheap and yet many people simply throw the shell away after extracting the egg. Saving the shells may be a good idea for problems that arise in the future where a home remedies can cure the problem.
Eggshells are great for protecting your garden because deer hate the smell of eggs and slugs and snails have a hard time manuvering around the jagged edges of the eggshells. Scattering the shells around plants and flowers will ensure the garden is pest proof this spring leaving more room for blooming flowers and growing plants.
Another use for eggshells is for joint pain and sore body parts. To use the eggshells for this purpose crumble the shells in a glass jar and cover with apple cider vinegar. Once the lid is shut let the mixture sit for a couple days until all the shells are dissolved. When the two of these ingredients combine it adds plenty of nutrients that will provide relief to a sore body when applied.
Recently beauty products have skyrocketed because everyone wants to look their best, but little do they know you can achieve the same radient skin and a youthful glow just by using an eggshell facial mask. The abrasiveness of the eggshells mixed with eggwhite will have the skin feeling soft and looking beautiful while helping to remove all the dead and dry skin cells. To make the mask simply crush up a couple eggshells and mix together with one eggwhite, then add to the face until the mask dries. Once the face is dry rinse the mixture off with warm water and see the beautiful glow the mask has given.
Eggshells also make a great inexpensive household cleaner. Take several eggshells and crush them into a powder like substance, before cleaning pour the eggshell powder onto the surface that will be cleaned and then simply wipe away with a clean soapy sponge. The eggshells help to scrape away stains and grease while the sponge simply wipes it all away. This cleaning alternative is great for individuals with sensative skin and strong chemical smells.
Eggshells also work wonders in the kitchen and with a slow draining sink. The problem with clogged sinks is a build up of food or grease which is blocking the pipes from flowing properly. In order to clear the pipes place a couple of crushed eggshells in the sink trap then turn the hot water on. As the water begins to flows through the sink the eggshells will move through the drain helping to release all the particles clogging the pipes. The eggshells are abrasive ebough to clear the pipes but natural enough to not harm the drain, pipes or sink.
Sometimes cleaning can be difficult especially if you cant reach difficult areas. A great example is a flower vase, often times the bottom is wide but the top is narrow making it hard to get inside to clean. Eggshells can help remedy this problem just by adding in a few crushed shells along with some warm water and a little dish soap. Shaking and swirling the ingredients inside the vase will help losen all the dirt which will give the vase an awesome shine and looking squeaky clean.
These are just a few of the many uses for eggshells. Eggshells are great to use for anything from beauty to cleaning and healing. It's a shame so many people throw them away after using the egg rather than recycling them. So much money is being spent on items we dont need because many people are not aware of all great things eggshells can do.
